The agony of being a longtime Tom Cruise fan has always been a burden, but now it's just, well, dispiriting.. J.J. Abrams's Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to his prequel, delivers the goods, even if some of the goods are less than fresh.. This is the sci-fi movie equivalent of a pretty damn good cover band..
